Crunchyroll, along with Sony Pictures Entertainment, is bringing the tremendously hailed anime series Demon Slayer to a fittingly opulent conclusion.

Mugen Train is the previous film entry into the expansive Demon Slayer epic, holding a record against which this work would be pitted: nearly $500 million in total ticket sales as the highest-grossing anime movie of all time and the highest-grossing Japanese film at the worldwide box office.

Rahul Purini, president of Crunchyroll, stated, “Crunchyroll is thrilled to be able to bring this trilogy of films to fans, on the big screen, and it promises to be one of the truly epic and consequential pop-cultural events of our time when it hits theaters.”

The global rights to the title have been acquired by Crunchyroll and SPE, with the exception of few Asian countries, such as Japan. A release date has not yet been disclosed.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle May Not:

The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle film trilogy will not be screened in theatres in some Asian territories—including even Japan itself. Although it hasn’t disclosed the list of excluded territories, it is known that Japan itself will not be included in the Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment theatrical release.

It may be that other Asian countries have in place distribution deals, so the movie trilogy could therefore, with alternative channels, still play theatrically there. At this moment, though, fans are going to have to be patient in these Asian select territories for alternative ways to view the film—most likely via streaming services or later home video releases.
